I was traveling along Interstate 5 today between LA and the Bay Area today and was using my new Cobra XRS 9970G. Throughout the trip, the radar detector kept going off with X, Ka, and K alarms. When they went off I couldn’t help but wonder, "Where are these signals coming from?" I looked around and didn’t see any sources for what my radar detector was picking up. (One possible thought I had was maybe they’re coming from the really tall cell phone towers that have the half-ball shaped antennas?) Other than the occasional highway patrol officers and and their vehicles, where are these alarm signals coming from? Or are they mostly false alarms?
There has been a a lot of police activity by my house, but that is not what this is about.
My question is (bare with me hard to explain). I have two police radars/detectors in both of my cars one in a SUV and another just in a plain car, they are both extremely powerful and have beep and voice control when ever a 5-0 is near by.
So the question is… You know how they work with a cigarette lighter in the car, the main source for the radar. Well, I have two Car/charger converts which converts them to a home AC outlet source. So they can be used at home.Kind of like converting a USB Into a charger with the AC plug. Get my point. What is i do that and set up to radars in my room pointing different angles.
The key here is where im a place them is right next to big windows in my room so i will get good Satellite signals, When ever a 5-0 passes by I will be alert, What do you think? If you are to scared to answer this question please dont just leave…and the rest of you guys, you know who i am talking to?
*JUST DONT LET ME FIND OUT THIS IS ILLEGAL*
The radar/detector system is there to alert me if a cop is by my house or not, can it pickup on that
I was merging onto 95 north in RI, and I have a sports car and did a little race with an SVT focus…didn’t break 95 mph. Then as we slowed down, the Focus was riding my ass after I beat him, and I noticed a Trooper riding in the high speed lane tailing the Focus. He stayed with us for a good 15-20 seconds…then darted past us. He did not pull us over, but he did try and speed trap us up the road a few miles, as my radar detector was going off. Now here is the scoop… I am going to be a cop real soon and I am wicked nervous that I may get in trouble for this and ruin my career. He did not speed up to look at mine and I dont think he could have gotten my plate but he might have. The focus was all tinted out and had a bunch of illegal stuff on it, but my car is stock everything. I changed lanes over the right hand side and then he scooted past. Is it possible he could have gotten my plate and can citate me a speed violation through the mail? As far as I know they cannot because the ticket goes to the driver not the RO, and he did NOT pull us over, thus he doesn’t know who the driver is…I would like to know if this is possible??AGAIN: no speed traps or cameras, he did NOT pull us over…nor did he follow us at all….credible sources please answer. And yes I should have made a more wise decision…but I gotta have fun sometimes…I do roofing for a living right now…not fun.
A police cruiser sets up a novel radar speed trap, consisting of two transmitting antennas at the edge of a main north-south road. One antenna is 2.0 m [W] of the other. The antennas, essentially point sources of continuous radio waves, are fed from a common transmitter with a frequency of 3.0 x 10^9 Hz. The trap is set for cars travelling south. A motorist drives a car equipped with a radar detector along a east-west road that cross the main road at a level instersection 1.0 x 10^2 m [N] of the radar trap. The motorist hears a series of beeps upon driving west through the intersection. The time interval between successive quiet spots is 0.20s as the car crosses the main road. How fast is the car moving?
A police cruiser has an unusual radar speed trap set up. It has two transmitting antennae at the edge of a main road that runs north and south. One antenna is 2.0 m[west] of the other, and they are both fed from a common transmitter with a frequency of 3.0 x10^9 Hz. These antennae can be considered as point sources of continuous radio waves. The trap is set for cars travelling south. A student drives his car along an east-west road that crosses the main road at a level intersection 100 m[north] of the radar trap. The student’s car has a "radar detector", so he hears a series of beeps as he drives west through the intersection. If the time interval between successive quiet spots is 1/5 s, as he crosses the main road, what is his speed?
